MARKANALISE

Die koper was Standard Wool SA. Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

MARKET ANALYSES

The 10th wool auction of the 2021/2022 season, took place on 20 October. The Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 2.2% higher, compared to the previous sale and closed at a clean price of R166.78/kg. The Australian EMI also increased by 3.5%, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 2.4% stronger against the US Dollar and also gained 1.7% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest increase on this auction, of 6.9%, was in the 22.5 micron segment. Lempriere SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by G. Modiano SA, Tianyu SA and Standard Wool SA. A total of 8 181 bales were on offer, of which 97.9% was sold and 40% of the offer was certified.

On the OVK auction 2 372 bales were offered, of which 99.3% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R217.50/kg, was achieved for a 1 bale lot BH of 16.4 microns, from the clip of Moerbeidal Boerdery, from the Rouxville district. The buyer was Standard Wool SA. Congratulations on this achievement!

FORECAST

Despite the offering being of a lower quality and the strengthening of the Rand against the most influential currencies, the South African wool market still performed well this week. The considerable increase in the Australian wool market can be a positive indication for the short term. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 11.2% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction, especially in the medium micron segment and saw healthy competition amongst buyers. We again invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the RWS certification process, because traceability is a future tendency, that came to stay. The next auction is scheduled for 27 October 2021, where approximately 8 059 bales will be on offer. Weigh-in for the last auction of 2021, will close on 3 November 2021. That will be for catalogue CB16.
