MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 10 844 bale aangebied, waarvan 94% verkoop is.

Die koper was Standard Wool SA . Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

MARKET ANALYSES

The 33rd wool auction of the 2020/21 season, took place on the 2nd of June. The Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 1.7% higher, compared to the previous sale and closed at a clean price of R160.22/kg. The Australian EMI also increased by 1.7%, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 2.08% stronger against the US Dollar and gained 2.10% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest increase this week, of 3.5%, was in the 18 micron segment. Standard Wool SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by G. Modiano SA, Lempriere SA en Tianyu SA. A total of 10 844 bales were on offer, of which 94% was sold.

On the OVK auction 3 304 bales were offered, of which 91.6% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R196.00/kg, was achieved for a 1 bale lot CL of 16.8 microns, from the clip of E & H Farming from Burgersdorp. The buyer was Standard Wool SA. Congratulations on this achievement!

FORECAST

With only one auction left in the current wool season, together with the increase in the Australian wool market, we expect to see a sideways movement in the South African wool market and even a slight improvement. In spite of the strengthening of the Rand, compared to the main currencies, the SA wool market performed 2% better than the Australian market, which is very positive indeed. The performance of the local currency during the coming week should keep playing a significant role though. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 4.9% higher, compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS) good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction and saw healthy competition amongst buyers. We invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process. The next wool auction is scheduled for 9 June 2021, which will then be the last auction of the current wool season.

OVK offer advances on fibre delivered in PE, as well as production loans. Please contact OVK Fibre’s office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information. Please enquire about OVK’s exciting new commission structure on fibre marketed by OVK. Producers must also bear in mind that OVK’s loyalty scheme awards farmers 23.9 cents per kilogram on fibre marketed by OVK.
