FORECAST

The Rand, displaying a constant strengthening against the most important currencies and the global uncertainty on the state of Covid-19, are all having a negative effect on the South-African wool market. The large quantity of bales which will be on offer on next week's auction might have a negative influence on the wool market. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 3.5% lower compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, was in high demand on the auction and enjoyed healthy competition amongst the buyers and made out 37% of the Merino wool offer. Producers have to take note of this and also accept that this is a future trend which has come to stay. We invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process. The next wool auction is scheduled for 02 December 2020, where 18 357 bales will be on offer. This will also be the last auction of 2020.

OVK offer advances on fibre delivered in PE, as well as production loans. Please contact OVK Fibre’s office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information. Please enquire about OVK’s exciting new commission structure on fibre marketed by OVK. Producers must also bear in mind that OVK’s loyalty scheme awards farmers 23.9 cents per kilogram on fibre marketed by OVK.
