MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 10180 bale aangebied, waarvan 51.4% verkoop is. Die koper was Standard Wool. Baie geluk met die prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

The 24th wool auction of the 2019/20 season took place this week and the Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 12.5% and 2220 points lower and closed at a clean price of R155.69/kg. The Australian EMI decreased by 5.5%. The Rand traded 5.6% weaker against the US Dollar this week and 1.7% weaker against the Euro, compared to the previous sale. The market this week succumbed to the global impact of the continuing Corona virus crisis, with a third of the wool offering withdrawn on Wednesday. It did show some improvement later on Thursday. The largest decrease this week of 16.4% was in the 19.5 micron segments. Standard Wool was the major buyer on the auction this week, followed by Modiano, Lempriere SA and Tianyu SA. A total of 10180 bales were on offer, of which 51.4% was sold. On the OVK auction 1619 bales were offered of which 59.1% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R125.50/kg was achieved for a 2 bale lot CL of 16.4 microns, from the clip of AH Geldenhuis from Richmond Northern Cape. The buyer was Standard Wool. Congratulations on the achievement!

FORECAST

This week saw a sharp decrease in the SA wool market, compared to the previous auction. The weakening of the Rand protected the local market somewhat against a larger decrease. The wool market is now following the downward trend of world markets, due to the Corona virus outbreak which was recently declared as a global pandemic. The volumes of wool received in the stores of the brokers this week, are accumulatively 5.7% higher compared to the same week of the previous season, but a decrease compared to last week. OVK invites producers to contact our fibre office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information if any advances on fibre delivered, or production financing is needed. Also learn more about OVK’s exciting new commission structure. The OVK website can be visited for more details. Given the situation in the global economy, flattening in the wool market is expected to proceed in the near future and producers are invited and requested to contact the OVK fibre office regarding decisions around the trading of your product. OVK is still committed to optimum service and support to our producers in positive, as well as difficult times. The next wool auction is scheduled for 26 March 2020 where 7635 bales will be on offer.
