MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 10 139 bale aangebied, waarvan 93.9% verkoop is.

Die koper was Standard Wool SA. Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

The 20th wool auction of the 2021/2022 season took place on 2 February. The Cape Wools Merino indicator increased by 7.4%, compared to the previous sale and closed at a clean price of R182.22/kg.  The Australian EMI also increased by 1.9%, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 0.3% weaker against the US Dollar and also lost 0.2% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest movement on this auction, was an increase of 6.6%, in the 21.0 micron segment. G. Modiano SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by  Standard Wool SA, Lempriere SA and Tianyu SA. A total of 10 139bales were on offer, of which 93.9% was sold.

On the OVK auction 2 941 bales were offered, of which 93.9% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R209.00/kg, was achieved for a 1 bale lot CL of 15.8 microns, from the clip of HJ Nel, from the Grahamstown district. The buyer was Standard Wool SA. Congratulations on this achievement!

FORECAST

The South-African wool market's strengthening, can be attributed to the slight weakening of the Rand against the most important currencies, as well as the significant smaller offering, compared to the previous auction. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week, is 9.1% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season. The main reason for this, might still be an aftermath of the long-term draught, experienced the past few years.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction. Certified wool outperformed the market average, resulted in healthy competition amongst buyers. We again invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the RWS certification process, because traceability is a future tendency, that came to stay. The next auction is scheduled for 2 February 2022.

OVK offer advances on fibre delivered in PE, as well as production loans. Please contact OVK Fibre’s office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information. Please enquire about OVK’s exciting new commission structure on fibre marketed by OVK.
