MARKANALISE

Die koper was Tianyu SA. Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

MARKET ANALYSES

The 16th wool auction of the 2021/2022 season, took place on 1 December. The Cape Wools Merino indicator stayed unchanged, compared to the previous sale and closed at a clean price of R175.36/kg.  The Australian EMI increased by 0.4% though, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 0.6% weaker against the US Dollar and also lost 1.7% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest movement on this auction, was an increase of 4.5%, in the 18.0 micron segment. G. Modiano SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by Standard Wool SA, Lempriere SA and Stucken & Co. A total of 13 831 bales were on offer, of which 97.1% was sold.

On the OVK auction 3 416 bales were offered, of which 97.5% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R228.00/kg, was achieved for a 3 bale lot TDRY of 15.9 microns, from the clip of BPG Langfontein, from the Wakkerstroom district. The buyer was Tianyu SA. Congratulations on this achievement!

FORECAST

The South-African wool market remained unchanged this week, this can be attributed to the sideways movement of the Australian wool market and the slight weakening of the Rand against the most influential currencies. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week, is 12.2% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction. Certified wool outperformed the market average, resulted in healthy competition amongst buyers. We again invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the RWS certification process, because traceability is a future tendency, that came to stay. The next auction is scheduled for 12 January. This will also be the first auction of 2022.

OVK offer advances on fibre delivered in PE, as well as production loans. Please contact OVK Fibre’s office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information. Please enquire about OVK’s exciting new commission structure on fibre marketed by OVK. Producers must also bear in mind that OVK’s loyalty scheme awards farmers 23.9 cents per kilogram on fibre marketed by OVK.
