Die 31ste wolveiling van die 2020/21 seisoen, het op 5 Mei plaasgevind. Die Cape Wools Merino aanwyser het met 0.9% gestyg teenoor die vorige veiling en teen 'n skoonprys van R164.14/kg gesluit. Die Australiese EMI het egter met 1.7% verswak teenoor die vorige veiling. Die Rand het, ooreenstemmend dieselfde tyd van die vorige veiling, 0.6% swakker verhandel teen die VSA Doller en het ook 0.1% verswak teen die Euro. Die grootste styging van 2.0%, was in die 22 mikron segment. G. Modiano SA het op hierdie veiling die grootste hoeveelheid bale gekoop, gevolg deur Standard Wool SA, Lempriere SA en Stucken & Co. Daar is in totaal 5 996 bale aangebied, waarvan 91.6% verkoop is.
Op die OVK veiling is 1 571 bale aangebied waarvan 91.6% verkoop is. Die hoogste prys op die OVK veiling, van R175.00/kg, is behaal vir ‘n 1 baal lot BM van 17.3 mikron, uit die skeersel van Dasberg Boerdery, vanuit Swellendam. Die koper was Standard Wool SA . Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!
VOORUITSIGTE
Met die groter aanbiedinge, van beide Australië en Suid-Afrika, vir die volgende veilings, tesame met die verskepingsprobleme wat Ausralië ondervind, kan 'n moontlik negatiewe invloed op die Suid-Afrikaanse wolmark hê in die kort termyn. Wol ontvang in die makelaars se store hierdie week, is 4.6% hoër vergeleke die ooreenstemmende tyd van die vorige seisoen.
Volhoubaar gesertifiseerde (RWS), goeie kwaliteit Merinowol, het weereens goeie aandag geniet op die veiling en gesorg vir gesonde kompetisie tussen kopers. Ons nooi produsente uit om te skakel met OVK, om u by te staan in die sertifiseringsproses. Produsente moet kennis neem dat die laaste wolinweegdatum van die seisoen op 12 Mei sal wees. Dit is vir katalogus CA34. Die volgende wolveiling is geskeduleer vir 19 Mei 2021, waar sowat 13 028 bale aangebied sal word.
OVK bied voorskotte op vesel wat by ons gelewer word, asook produksielenings. Skakel gerus die OVK Veselkantoor in Port Elizabeth of u Tegniese Veldbeampte vir meer inligting. Vind ook meer uit oor die opwindende nuwe kommissiestruktuur op vesel bemark deur OVK. Produsente word ook herinner aan die lojaliteitskema van OVK, waar boere beloon word met 23.9 sent vir elke kilogram vesel wat deur OVK bemark word.

The Australian EMI decreased by 1.7% though, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 0.6% lower against the US Dollar and lost 0.1% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest increase this week, of 2.0%, was in the 22 micron segment. G. Modiano SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by Standard Wool SA, Lempriere SA en Stucken & Co. A total of 5 966 bales were on offer, of which 91.6% was sold.

FORECAST
With the larger offerings, in both Australia and South Africa, together with the shipping problems experienced in Australia, might have a negative influence on the South-African wool market in the short term. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 4.6% higher, compared to the same time of the previous season.
Sustainable certified (RWS) good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction and saw healthy competition amongst buyers. We invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process. Producers must take note that the last wool weigh-in date for this season, will be on 12 May. That is for catalogue CA34. The next wool auction is scheduled for 19 May 2021 where about 13 028 bales will be on offer.
