Die 27ste wolveiling van die 2020/21 seisoen, het op 24 Maart plaasgevind. Die Cape Wools Merino aanwyser het met 0.7% gedaal teenoor die vorige veiling en teen 'n skoonprys van R161.03/kg gesluit. Die Australiese EMI het egter met 0.2% versterk teenoor die vorige veiling. Die Rand het, ooreenstemmend dieselfde tyd van die vorige veiling, 0.5% sterker verhandel teen die VSA Doller en het ook 1.2% versterk teen die Euro. Die grootste daling van 3.0%, was in die 22.5 mikron segment. Standard Wool SA het op hierdie veiling die grootste hoeveelheid bale gekoop, gevolg deur Lempriere SA, G. Modiano SA en Tianyu SA. Daar is in totaal 6 023 bale aangebied, waarvan 94.2% verkoop is.
Op die OVK veiling is 2 141 bale aangebied waarvan 95.1% verkoop is. Die hoogste prys op die OVK veiling, van R180.00/kg, is behaal vir ‘n 1 baal lot BFY van 17.4 mikron, uit die skeersel van McNaughton Farming, Graaff-Reinet. Die koper was New England Wool . Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!
VOORUITSIGTE
Die daling in die SA wolmark die week, kan toegeskryf word aan die versterking van die Rand teenoor die vernaamste geldeenhede, asook die sywaartse beweging van die Australies mark. Wol ontvang in die makelaars se store hierdie week, is 7.3% laer vergeleke die ooreenstemmende tyd van die vorige seisoen.
Volhoubaar gesertifiseerde (RWS), goeie kwaliteit Merinowol, het weereens goeie aandag geniet op die veiling en gesorg vir gesonde kompetisie tussen kopers. Sertifisering raak meer belangrik en produsente kan gerus kennis neem van die neiging. Skakel gerus met OVK om u by te staan in die sertifiseringsproses. Produsente moet kennis neem dat die laaste wolinweegdatum van die seisoen op 12 Mei sal wees. Dit is vir katalogus CA34. Die volgende wolveiling is geskeduleer vir 14 April 2021.

MARKET ANALYSES
The 27th wool auction of the 2020/21 season, took place on 24 March. The Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 0.7% lower, compared to the previous sale and closed at a clean price of R161.03/kg. The Australian EMI increased by 0.2% though, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 0.5% stronger against the US Dollar and also strengthened by 1.2% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest decrease this week of 3.0% was in the 22.5 micron segment. Standard Wool SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by Lempriere SA, G. Modiano SA en Tianyu SA. A total of 6 023 bales were on offer, of which 94.2% was sold.
On the OVK auction 2 141 bales were offered, of which 95.1% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R180.00/kg, was achieved for a 1 bale lot BFY of 17.4 microns, from the clip of McNaughton Farming from Graaff-Reinet. The buyer was New England Wool. Congratulations on this achievement!
FORECAST
The decrease in the SA wool market this week can be attributed to the strengthening of the Rand against the most important currencies, as well as the sideways movement of the Australian market. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 7.3% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season.
Sustainable certified (RWS) good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction and saw healthy competition amongst buyers. Certification is becoming more important and producers must take note of this trend. We invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process. Producers must take note that the last wool weigh-in date for this season, will be on 12 May. That is for catalogue CA34. The next wool auction is scheduled for 14 April 2021.
