VOORUITSIGTE

FORECAST

The decrease in the SA wool market this week can be attributed to a following of the decrease in the Australian market, as well as the strengthening of the Rand against the most important currencies. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 7.1% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS) good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction and saw healthy competition amongst buyers. Certification is becoming more important and producers must take note of this trend. We invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process.  Producers must take note that the last wool weigh-in date for this season, will be on 12 May. That is for catalogue CA34. The next wool auction is scheduled for 24 March 2021, where roughly 6 398 bales will be on offer.
