MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 12 210 bale aangebied, waarvan 96.6% verkoop is.

MARKET ANALYSES

The 14th wool auction of the 2021/2022 season, took place on 17 November. The Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 1.7% higher, compared to the previous sale and closed at a clean price of R170.08/kg.  The Australian EMI decreased by 0.4% though, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 1.7% weaker against the US Dollar, but gained 0.3% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest movement on this auction, was an increase of 5.7%, in the 21.0 micron segment. G. Modiano SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by Lempriere SA, Tianyu SA en Standard Wool SA. A total of 12 210 bales were on offer, of which 96.6% was sold.

On the OVK auction 2 769 bales were offered, of which 97.3% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R216.00/kg, was achieved for a 1 bale lot AFY of 17.2 microns, from the clip of Dasberg Boerdery, from the Swellendam district. The buyer was Stucken & Co. Congratulations on this achievement!

FORECAST

The increase in the South-African wool market can mainly be attributed to the weakening of the Rand against the USA Dollar. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week, is 11.8% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction and outperformed the market, resulted in healthy competition amongst buyers. We again invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the RWS certification process, because traceability is a future tendency, that came to stay.  The next auction is scheduled for 24 November 2021, where approximately 13 424 bales will be on offer. The last auction of 2021, will be on 1 December 2021. That will be of catalogue CB16.

OVK offer advances on fibre delivered in PE, as well as production loans. Please contact OVK Fibre’s office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information. Please enquire about OVK’s exciting new commission structure on fibre marketed by OVK.
