VOORUITSIGTE

FORECAST

In spite of the strengthening of the Rand against the most important currencies as the renewed outbreaks of Covid-19 in Europe, the wool market performed above expectations on this auction. The elections in the USA could have a significant influence on the market in the short to medium terms though and could be determining on future trade relations between America and China. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 0.2% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, was in high demand on the auction and enjoyed healthy competition amongst the buyers. Producers have to take note of this and also accept that this is a future trend which has come to stay. We invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process. The next wool auction is scheduled for 11 November where 11020 bales will be on offer.
