Kleinbokkiehaar styg met 10.0% / The price of kids increased by 10.0%

MARKANALISE

MARKET ANALYSES

The last mohair sale of the 2020 summer selling season followed the same trend as the penultimate sale. There was good competition from the local processors on the kid types. Adult and young goat hair received less attention and prices were under pressure. Compared to the previous sale, kids were 10% dearer, young goats easier by 1.7% and adults easier by 1.0%. The best price of the day went to PCL Michau of Cradock at R670.00/kg! This super style summer kid bale tested 23.7 micron with a clean yield of 93.9%.

Today's sales analysis is as follows: The price of kids increased by 10.0% with a market indicator of R464.84/kg and 83.7% sale clearance; young goat hair decreased by 1.7% with a market indicator of R230.30/kg and a sale clearance of 73.7%. Adult mohair decreased by 1.0% with a market indicator of R164.02/kg and 64.9% sold. This brought the overall sale clearance to 71.1% and the overall market indicator to R236.45/kg which is 2.7 % higher.

MARKET OUTLOOK

There is a definite price difference in the finer micron groups and special care must be taken to separate the finer microns from the stronger ones. This makes EGT a logical choice for the better than average farmer. The price levels for strong young goat mohair, as well as that of adult mohair, will remain under pressure until Europe is back in the market. The next sale will be offered on 18 August 2020 in Port Elizabeth.
