MARKANALISE
Daar is in totaal 6 707 bale aangebied, waarvan 93.2% verkoop is. Die koper was Standard Wool. Baie geluk met die prestasie!
VOORUITSIGTE
Hierdie verslag deur Heinrich Victor, Bestuurder Spesiale Dienste Vesel – OVK.

MARKET ANALYSES
The 30th wool auction of the 2019/20 season took place this week on 24 June and the Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 0.1% higher and closed at a clean price of R142.50/kg. The Australian EMI decreased by 2.6% though. The Rand traded 0.9% weaker against the US Dollar and 1.2% weaker to the Euro, compared to the rate of previous sale. Good quality medium length Merino wool performed well this week and resulted in good competition amongst buyers and these types also performed better than the average and forced the market to positive levels. The largest increase this week of 3.6% was in the 22 micron segment. Standard Wool was the major buyer on the auction this week, followed by Modiano, Lempriere SA and Stucken. A total of 6 707 bales were on offer, of which 93.2% was sold. On the OVK auction 1 640 bales were offered of which 93.7% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R151.80/kg was achieved for a 1 bale lot BFY of 16.1 microns from the clip of BG Viljoen from Swellendam. The buyer was Standard Wool. Congratulations on the achievement!
FORECAST
In spite of a decrease in the Australian market, the SA wool market this week traded sideways, compared to the previous week. The slight weakening of the Rand helped though. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores increased by 14.08% compared to the same time of the previous season. This is indeed positive news for the industry, with the season’s receivals already closed. This week’s auction showed that sustainable certified wool still enjoyed good attention amongst buyers. Producers have to take note of that and we invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the certification process.
The next auction is scheduled for 1 July 2020. This report by Heinrich Victor, Manager Special Services Fibre – OVK
