MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 5,637 bale aangebied, waarvan 85.5% verkoop is. Die koper was Stucken. Baie geluk met die prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

The Australian EMI increased by 1.3%. The Rand strengthened by 3.7% stronger against the US Dollar, compared to the rate last week when the first part of the 27th wool auction. The offering mainly consisted of medium lengths wool, with very little wool of a shorter length offered. The better types Merino wool were in good demand and performed well, with over 90% sold. The largest decrease this week of 5.4% was in the 22.5-micron segment. Standard Wool was the major buyer on the auction this week, followed by Lempriere SA, Stucken and Modiano. Congratulations on the achievement!

FORECAST

The strengthening of the Rand against the US Dollar is currently the biggest contributors in the decrease in wool prices. A decrease in demand from Europe and China also contributes to weaker international wool prices. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week increased by 2.25% compared to the same period of the previous season. This is positive news for the industry and shows that producers have started to deliver wool after the termination of level 5 of the lockdown period at the end of April.  The next auction is scheduled for 10 June 2020, with the number of bales on offer limited to approximately 7,500.

The date of receiving wool for the final auction for the 2019/20 wool season is in three weeks’ time, being 17 June 2020.   This report by Pierre de Lange, Wool Marketing Manager.
