MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 7709 bale aangebied, waarvan 78% verkoop is. Die koper was Stucken. Baie geluk met die prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

MARKET ANALYSES

Part 1 of the 27th wool auction of the 2019/20 season took place this week and the Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 3.1% and 466 points weaker and closed at a clean price of R145.03/kg. The Australian EMI decreased by 2%. The Rand traded 1.8% stronger against the US Dollar and 0.8% stronger to the Euro, compared with the rate of previous sale. In spite of difficult trading conditions, all buyer houses participated actively. The offer mainly consisted of medium lengths wool and the finer types performed relatively well and traded above the average, with stronger and shorter types experiencing a lot downward pressure. The largest decrease this week of 6.8% was in the 22 micron segment. Standard Wool was the major buyer on the auction this week, followed by Lempriere SA, Modiano and Stucken. A total of 7709 bales were on offer, of which 78% was sold. On the OVK auction 2652 bales were offered of which 61.9% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R133.00/kg was achieved for a 1 bale lot BH of 16.5 microns from the clip of Majupa Farming CC from Riversdale. The buyer was Stucken. Congratulations on the achievement!

FORECAST

This auction saw a decrease in the SA wool market, compared to the previous sale. That was mainly an imitation of the decrease in the Australian market and a stronger exchange rate against the main currencies, compared to the previous auction. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week decreased by 1.25% compared to the same time of the previous season. Delayed shearing might be a major role player in the decrease as well as the aftermath of the national drought, which will still have a negative influence on wool production for some time to come. Producers therefore still have to give attention to bio-security, as well as the general health and feeding of flocks, in order to endeavour maximum production and reproduction. Please contact the OVK fibre office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information if any advances on fibre delivered, or production financing is needed. Also learn more about OVK’s exciting new commission structure. Producers must also remember about the OVK loyalty scheme, where farmers are awarded for every kilogram of fibre, delivered to OVK. The OVK website can also be visited for more details. Producers are invited and requested to contact the OVK fibre office regarding decisions around the trading of your product. OVK is still committed to optimal service and support to our producers in prosperous, as well as difficult times.  The auction of the second part of Catalogue 27 is scheduled for 27 May 2020.
