geplaas op 17:41 (GMT+2) Do., 07 Mei 2020

Met hierdie veiling het die SA wolmark verswak, in vergelyking met die vorige veiling / This auction saw a decrease in the SA wool market, compared to the previous auction.

MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 12091 bale aangebied, waarvan 80.5% verkoop is.

Die koper was Tianyu SA. Baie geluk met die prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

MARKET ANALYSES

The 26nd wool auction of the 2019/20 season took place the past 2 weeks and the Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 9.6% weaker and closed at a clean price of R149.67/kg. The Australian EMI decreased by 8.2%. The Rand traded 3.2% stronger, against the USA dollar, in the first week and maintained the same levels during the second week, compared to the previous sale. Amidst the level-4 Corona virus lockdown regulations in South Africa, a conventional auction could be held again for this catalogue. The finer types performed relatively well, while stronger and inferior wool experienced extreme downward pressure. The largest decrease this week of 13.9% was in the 22 micron segment. Standard Wool was the major buyer on the auction this week, followed by, Lempriere SA, Stucken and Modiano. A total of 12091 bales were on offer, of which 80.5% was sold.

On the OVK auction 3015 bales were offered of which 78.6% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R139.90/kg was achieved for a 2 bale lot CL of 16.1 microns, from the clip of Tibaya Farming Project (Pty) Ltd. from Carolina. The buyer was Tianyu SA. Congratulations on the achievement!

FORECAST

This auction saw a decrease in the SA wool market, compared to the previous auction. That was mainly an imitation of the decrease in the Australian market, which is due to the flattening of the world economy and a decrease in the demand, especially from Europe. A stronger exchange rate, against the main currencies, compared to the previous auction, also contributed to the decrease.  The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores resumed at the beginning of this week, amidst the level-4 lockdown regulations which took effect on 4 May. The scheduled wool auction dates will change though, for the testing process at the Wool Testing Bureau is not functioning at full capacity yet, due to the lockdown regulations regarding general work force of businesses. We thank our producers though for your understanding regarding this situation. Producers will be updated about any developments in this regard and intended auction dates will be communicated.

OVK invites producers to contact our fibre office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information if any advances on fibre delivered, or production financing is needed.
