It seems as if there are still some pressure on seedy, adults and strong young goats

MARKANALISE

Samil was die koper.

MARKVOORUITSIG

So berig Etienne Bezuidenhout, OVK Sybokhaar Bestuurder.

MARKET ANALYSIS

The first sale of the 2020 winter season took place in Port Elizabeth today, the 18th of August 2020.  The first sale of a season is always mixed qualities and difficult to quote. There was limited competition on seedy mohair and very little was sold. The average market indicator closed on R224.82/kg. Price levels were lower for kid mohair, slightly lower for young goats and considerably higher for adults.

The price of kids decreased by 12.0% with a market indicator of R405.89/kg and a 90.0% sale clearance; young goat hair decreased by 4.4% with a market indicator of R219.85/kg and a sale clearance of 90.4%. Adult mohair increased by 2.0% with a market indicator of R167.43/kg and 75.1% sold. This brought the overall sale clearance to 83.5% and the overall market indicator to R224.82/kg which is a decrease of 4.9%. OVK PureCape Bins fetched the highest price of R553.00 today for summer kids. Samil was the buyer.

MARKET OUTLOOK

It seems as if there will still be some pressure on seedy, adults and strong young goats whilst the fine young goat and winter kids will be unchanged and sell on current levels for the coming sale.  The next sale will be held in Port Elizabeth on the 8th of September 2020. So reported by Etienne Bezuidenhout, OVK Mohair Manager.
