Hierdie week het die SA wolmark effens verbeter, in vergelyking met die vorige veiling / This week saw the SA wool market trading higher, compared to the previous auction.

Markanalise

Die 18de wolveiling van die 2019/20 seisoen het hierdie week plaasgevind en die Cape Wools aanwyser het met 1.6% en 278 punte hoër verhandel en teen 'n skoonprys van R177.41/kg gesluit. Die Australiese EMI het met 1.9% gestyg. Die Rand het hierdie week 0.8% swakker verhandel teen die VSA Doller en 0.6% swakker teen die Euro, ooreenstemmend dieselfde tyd van die vorige veiling. Goeie kwaliteit Merino vagwol en veral die medium tot sterker tipes, het goed presteer en gesorg vir gesonde mededinging onder kopers, ten spyte van die Koronavirusuitbraak en die verlengde Chinese nuwejaarsvieringe. Daar was egter ‘n beperkte hoeveelheid korter tipes aangebied. Die grootste styging hierdie week van 4.2%, was in die 22 mikron segment. Standard Wool het hierdie week die grootste hoeveelheid bale gekoop, gevolg deur Modiano, Lempriere SA en Stucken.

Daar is in totaal 6579 bale aangebied, waarvan 94% verkoop is. Op die OVK veiling is 1386 bale aangebied waarvan 95.4% verkoop is. Die hoogste prys op die OVK veiling van R140.20/kg is behaal vir ‘n 4 baal lot BMY van 17.8 mikron, uit die skeersel van Joubert Trust van Bethulie. Die koper was Standard Wool. Baie geluk met die prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

Hierdie week het die SA wolmark effens verbeter, in vergelyking met die vorige veiling. Die swakker Rand het bygedra tot die styging in die mark en die positiewe Australiese mark nagevolg. Die volume wol ontvang in die makelaars se store hierdie week, is 40% laer as die ooreenstemmende week van die vorige seisoen, maar akkumulatief 1.4% hoër. Hoewel dit nog krities droog is in heelwat produksiegebiede, is berigte van goeie reëns wel ontvang, wat gevolglik welkome verligting en goeie nuus is vir produsente. OVK nooi produsente uit om ons te skakel indien enige voorskotte op vesel gelewer, asook finansiering, verlang word. Vind ook meer uit oor die nuwe kommissiestruktuur van OVK. Skakel gerus met ons veselkantoor in Port Elizabeth of met u Tegniese Veldbeampte vir meer inligting. Besoek ook gerus die OVK webtuiste vir meer besonderhede. Ons beklemtoon dat OVK verbind is daartoe om sy produsente by te staan na die beste van ons vermoë in goeie, sowel as moeilike tye.

Die bewuswording van standaarde in bykans alle industrieë wêreldwyd, word ‘n al groter realiteit en dus ook in die veselindustrie. Volhoubaarheid en naspeurbaarheid is gonswoorde op almal se lippe en produsente sal ernstige oorweging moet skenk aan hierdie neiging, ten einde internasionale mededinging in die toekoms te verseker. OVK is inderdaad gerat om u by te staan in die sertifisering van RWS en ook eersdaags RMS in die sybokhaar industrie. Te midde van die Koronavirusuitbraak in China, reageer wêreldmarkte oor die algemeen redelik senuweeagtig, maar tot op hede is die wolmark nog stabiel, soos bewys is in die huidige markbeweging van die afgelope week.

Produsente moet steeds sorg aan die dag lê om te verseker dat bio-sekuriteit ten alle tye prioriteit geniet, ten einde kuddes te beskerm. Siektes soos slenkdalkoors, bloutong, karooverlamming, bek-en klouseer, ens., moet met erns bejeën word en die nodige voorsorg moet getref word om hierdie siektes te bekamp, om gevolglike ekonomiese verliese so ver moontlik uit te skakel. Deur die nodige inentings en strategiese dippings te doen, kan genoemde toestande suksesvol bestuur word. U naaste OVK handelstak sal in u enstof-en dipbehoeftes voorsien. Besoek ons gerus.

MARKET ANALYSIS

The 18th wool auction of the 2019/20 season took place this week and the Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 1.6% and 278 points higher and closed at a clean price of R177.41/kg. The Australian EMI increased by 1.9%. The Rand traded 0.8% weaker against the US Dollar this week and 0.6% weaker against the Euro, compared to the previous sale. Good quality Merino fleeces, especially medium to stronger types, performed well and saw healthy competition amongst buyers, despite the outbreak of the Corona virus and the extended Chinese new year celebrations. There was a limited offer of shorter wool. The largest increase this week of 4.2% was in the 22 micron segment. Standard Wool was the major buyer on the auction this week, followed by Modiano, Lempriere SA and Stucken.

A total of 6579 bales were on offer, of which 94% was sold. On the OVK auction 1386 bales were offered of which 95.4% was sold. The highest price of R140.20/kg was achieved for a 4 bale lot BMY of 17.8 microns, from the clip the Joubert Trust from Bethulie. The buyer was Standard Wool. FORECAST

This week saw the SA wool market trading higher, compared to the previous auction. This weaker Rand contributed to the increase in the market and followed the positive Australian market. The volumes of wool received in the stores of the brokers this week, are 40% lower, compared to the same week of the previous season, but accumulatively 1.4% higher. Although it is still critical dry in a lot of production areas, reports of good rains were received, which resulted in welcome relief and good news for producers. Awareness of standards in almost all industries world-wide, is becoming a more significant reality and therefore also in the fibre industry. Care is required from producers to ensure that bio-security have to enjoy priority in order to protect flocks at all times. Diseases such as Rift Valley Fever, Blue Tongue, Karoo Paralysis, Foot and Mouth disease, etc., have to be taken seriously and the necessary precautions have to be taken to prevent these diseases, in order to avoid resulting economic losses.
