MARKANALISE

Daar is in totaal 7 522 bale aangebied, waarvan 94.4% verkoop is.

Die koper was G. Modiano SA. Baie geluk met hierdie prestasie!

VOORUITSIGTE

MARKET ANALYSES

The 8th wool auction of the 2021/2022 season, took place on 6 October. The Cape Wools Merino indicator traded 2.5% lower, compared to the previous sale and closed at a clean price of R163.40/kg. The Australian EMI stayed stable though, compared to the previous sale. The Rand traded 0.7% lower against the US Dollar and gained 0.3% to the Euro, compared to the previous auction. The largest decrease on this auction, of 4.5%, was in the 21.5 and 22.0 micron segment. That was also the main reason for the drop in the market this week. Fine wool still traded above the average. G. Modiano SA was the major buyer on this auction, followed by Standard Wool SA, Lempriere SA and Tianyu SA. A total of 7 522 bales were on offer, of which 94.4% was sold.

On the OVK auction 2 396 bales were offered, of which 86.9% was sold. The highest price on the OVK auction, of R242.50/kg, was achieved for a 1 bale lot BFH of 16.1 microns, from the clip of Omega Farming, from the Burgersdorp district. The buyer was G. Modiano SA. Congratulations on this achievement!

FORECAST

Non-certified wool was under pressure and it will possibly continue to be the tendency in the short to medium term. The receival of wool in the brokers’ stores this week is 4.7% lower, compared to the same time of the previous season. One of the main reasons for the low receivals, could still be due to the recent extremely cold conditions that was experienced in large production areas, which forced farmers to reschedule shearing times.

Sustainable certified (RWS), good quality Merino wool, again enjoyed good attention on the auction and saw healthy competition amongst buyers. We again invite farmers to contact OVK for assistance in the RWS certification process, because traceability is a future tendency, that came to stay. The next auction is scheduled for 13 October 2021.

OVK offer advances on fibre delivered in PE, as well as production loans. Please contact OVK Fibre’s office in Port Elizabeth or your Technical Field Officer for more information.
